This page describes each category found in NLD. Please read through them carefully if you're adding a directory to NLD!
- Adoptions
Anything that you can adopt, usually original graphics such as pixels. To adopt is to save such images to your own server and link them back to their appropriate owners to let others know where to adopt them.
- Awards
Any kind of website organizing a competition in which prizes of a kind can be won through nominations, voting and/or judging.
- Cliques
Clubs or support websites that allow people to join because of a common interest in some theme. Fanlistings are not cliques and should be listed under the Fanlisting category.
- Collectives
Websites created by a webdesigner to showcase all of their websites. If the website has any other kind of content that qualifies for another category then it will be categorized accordingly. These websites are not an entire personal website but one page dedicated to the owner's websites.
- Directories
An archive of original and personal websites, This directory is a perfect example.
- Domains
A paid for, independant website ending in .com .org .net .nu and so on. Hosted websites do not fit into this category.
- Fanlistings
Websites dedicated to a particular subject (such as a type of movie, song, musician, album, and so on) for the purpose of uniting the fans of the particular subject. Fanlistings may not be called official unless proof can be provided for the official status of the listing, however the term TFL/TAFL/TNL-approved is allowed. Fansites do not fall into the category.
- Fansites
Websites dedicated to a particular subject (such as a type of movie, song, musician, album and so on) and provide information, images and other media regarding the subject. Most fansites are unofficial and are not affiliated with the subject of the fansite. They are simply informative websites created by fans for other fans. Fansites are not fanlistings.
- Forums
Forums or message boards are post-based discussion websites.
- Hatelistings
Websites dedicated to a particular subject (such as a type of movie, song, musician, album, and so on) for the purpose of uniting people who dislike the particular subject, the opposite of a fanlisting.
- Miscellaneous
Websites that do not fall into any of the other categories provided in this directory.
- Namelistings
Websites dedicated to a particular name (such as Justin, Lance, and so on) for the purpose of uniting people who like the particular name.
- Physical Fanlistings
A listing for that of a particular famous person or fictional character that you think has a good physical quality.s
- RPGs
Websites for role-playing games.
- TCGs
Websites for trading card games.
- Taboolistings
Websites dedicated to a particular subject (such as a type of movie, song, musician, album, and so on) for the purpose of uniting the fans of the particular subject.
- Webrings
Weblistings often constructed with Ringsurf that bring together websites with a common theme or people with a common interest. Those belonging to the webring have a code on their website that looks like this: « # webring ? »
- Writings
Websites displaying exclusively any form of writing, such as poetry, short stories, novels, fanfics and so on.
